I met a bird who was singin’ to me.

She said, “Sing with me and soar with me, PLEASE!”

I said, “How do you sing?”. I said, “How do you soar?”

She said, “Find your voice and believe it.”

I said, “How do you know?”. I said, “Where will we go?”

She said, “Find your voice and believe it.”

I met a bird who was singin’ to me.

I said, “Hey there, bird, what-cha singin’, what-cha singin’,

what-cha singin’, what-cha singin’, what-cha singin’?”

Chu chu chu chu chu chu tsshh

2.   I met a fly who was buzzing me.

I said, “Hey there, fly, what-cha doin’, what-cha doin’?”

Puttin’ on the Ritz        Words and music by Irving Berlin, arranged by Roger Emerson

Have you seen the well-to-do

Up and down Park Avenue,

On that famous thoroughfare

With their noses in the air.

High hats and arrow collars,

White spats and lots of dollars,

Spending ev’ry dime

for a wonderful time.

If you’re blue and you don’t know where to go to,

Why don’t you go where fashion sits,

Puttin’ on the Ritz.

Diff’rent types who wear a day coat, pants with stripes

And cut away coat, perfect fits,

Puttin’ on the Ritz.

Strolling up the avenue so happy.

All dressed up just like an English chappie,

Very snappy.

Come let’s mix where Rockefellers walk with sticks

Or um-ber-el-las in their mitts,

Puttin’ on the Ritz.

If you’re blue and you don’t know where to go to,

Why don’t you go where fashion sits,

Puttin’ on the Ritz.

Diff’rent types who wear a day coat, pants with stripes

And cut away coat, perfect fits,

Puttin’ on the Ritz.

Dressed up like a million dollar trouper.

Trying hard to be like Gary Cooper,

Super duper.

Come let’s mix where Rockefellers walk with sticks

Or um-ber-el-las in their mitts,

Puttin’ on the Ritz. Puttin’ on the Ritz.

Puttin’ on the Ritz. Puttin’ on the Ritz.  Puttin’ on the Ritz.

Wings                                            Carl Strommen

1.   And give me wings to travel swiftly

O’er fields of green and skies of blue.

And let my wings lift me higher

And bring me home to you.

2.   And give me wings to ride the wind

Through winter storm and summer’s light.

And let my wings lift me higher

And bring me through the night.

Chorus:

Carry me high above the water.

Carry me high above the plain.

Carry me far beyond the rising of the sun.

Bring me home again. (Repeat chorus)

3.   And give me wings to see the mountain.

To ride above the clouds so high.

And let my wings lift me higher,

And bring me through the night.

4.   And give me wings to feel the windsong.

And let me fly above the sky.

And let my wings lift me higher

And bring me to your side.

Chorus

La Musica                                  Jay Althouse

La musica nos une por todo el mundo.

Music joins us ev'rywhere.

La musica nos une por todo el mundo.

Music is a world we share.

Uno por uno: one by one.

Lado a lado: side by side,

‘til the music is done,

‘til the music is done.

El mundo de la musica, cancion de vivir.

Let the rhythm now begin.

El mundo de la musica, cancion de vivir.

It's the beat I feel within.

La musica nos une por todo el mundo.

Music joins us ev'rywhere.

La musica nos une por todo el mundo.

Music is a world we share.

Uno por uno: one by one.

Lado a lado: side by side,

‘til the music is done,

‘til the music is done.

El mundo de la musica, cancion de vivir.

Let the rhythm now begin.

El mundo de la musica, cancion de vivir.

It's the beat I feel, the strength I feel.

Music is the rhythm of life,

The rhythm, the rhythm, the rhythm of life!

Surprise Symphony                       Melody by Josoph Haydn, arranged by Phyllis Aleta Wolfe

Back in seventeen ninety-two, there was not a lot to do;

Haydn wrote this symphony, Number Ninety-Four, in G.

Since there was no rock or jazz, Haydn made his own “pizzazz.”

If songs got to be a bore, he’d add a surprise, Loudly!

Oh, my! How could anybody sleep through music this exciting?

Papa Haydn knew the key was to use variety.

It’s not easy when all the dynamic words are in Italian!

But that was the thing to do, back in seventeen ninety two.

“Forte” is the word for loud and that will surely wake the crowd.

Just in case a sleeper lurks, singing forte always works!

Wake up! Haydn woke his sleepers with a jolt to pop their peepers!

People knew when he directed to expect the unexpected!

Oh, my!  How could anybody sleep through music this exciting?

Papa Haydn knew the key was to use variety!

Concert dozing’s not permitted. Those charged may not be acquitted.

No snoring, no sleeping, no fooling, not boring!

Oh, my! How could anybody sleep through music this exciting!

Papa Haydn knew the key was to use variety!

It’s not easy when all the dynamic words are in Italian!

But that was the thing to do, back in seventeen ninety-two!

Now you can sing it, Italian or English. You know what dynamics are for.

Haydn insisted his players enlisted, to keep songs from being a bore!

Mezzo forte! Piano, forte! Haydn’s kind of music kept the crowds awake!
